Default cold air

for the 05 civic lx, i want a short ram air intake, does anyone have any favorites? any info is appreciated.

just get an ebay intake, and throw onan AEM dryflow or k&n filter.

^ yup, unless its an Icebox style intake or the AEM V2, its all just a pipe and a filter. You cant really do many things differntly with the pipe, but as for the filter, AEM and K&N is where its at.

be careful choosing one of those ebay intakes though. i took the same route with my old civic..got a short ram air intake and threw on a better filter. the only problem was, the mounting bracket for the filter end didn't line up like it was supposed to, so we wound up just bending it with a couple pliers so it would work. then, it also made this kinda high pitched whistling sound with a certain amount of throttle.

first it would start off quiet, much like it sounded before the intake, then you'd hit the spot where it would whistle, then it would stop whistling, but started sounding deeper. i'll admit, it did sound a hell of a lot better than the car did before..but i think that was the last time i buy parts on ebay. though i was thinking it might be not so bad to get something simple like a strut bar..then i looked at my engine bay, and wasn't sure how it would work for the front end.
