Coolant leak or Salt

Default Coolant leak or Salt
Hello,

I am in process of buying a used civic and when i popped open the hood i noticed white spots on the engine. I cannot tell if its coolant or salt stains. Can someone please help me!!!

Clean it off and see if it comes back? Spring time now, so I cant imagine salt being the roads much.

Is your coolant low?

thanks, no coolant level seems fine. but the way its spread out maybe there was a minor leak from the previous owner. can you tell what it is by the pic?

I would guess only salt. If there was a coolant leak, there would be build up over time, too.
