Cost to fix? Deal breaker?
Hey guys, I have a 1995 civic b18b1 turbo swap. 220 km on body unknown on motor. I am a student and am alittle tight of cash. Just want to know a rough estamate of what this cost might be before I go to the mechanics. Based on the cost this may be a deal breaker if I sell or keep the car. As of now it needs: an ebrake( everything is gone except handle), new lights all around signal tail ect, the back wheels rub on the body so not sure about that but they are on adjustable Coilovers, front passenger shock makes loud clunking noise, new quiter muffler, an a horn. That's it guys just wondering about what your opinions are! Thanks a bunch!

It sounds like this car has been completely stripped down for racing and now you need to replace enough stuff to make it street-legal again. State (assuming you are in the US) laws vary greatly in this regard. Look up exactly what is required in your locality. For example if the air bags are gone and you need to restore them, that will be very expensive.

I would assume that you're Canadian in the fact that you're using km's. If that's the case you could run into some issues. I agree with the other poster that it looks like that it was used for some sort of racing.
Depending on your insurance company they are probably going to ask you to get an Insurance Inspection because of the age of the vehicle. Some companies do 10, 15 years old etc. I live in Alberta and I know with our Insurance Inspections that you need a working horn, lights, emergency brake at least to pass parts of the vehicle. I know there is more but I can't think of them offhand at the moment. The parts would be cheap to get(possibly) but the labour to get it done wouldn't be cheap. Sorry that I don't have an estimate. You could phone some mechanics and they'll give you an estimate before you take the car in.
Personally I wouldn't buy the car. Just by the things that are not on it to make it road legal, I wouldn't go anywhere near it. I am not sure what is drawing you to the car but it's not worth it. Since it's been raced, it should stay on the track and not on the road. When you think of racing you don't think of "Sunday drives out to the country." Run, run away.
