Cruise overshoot, too fast, delayed off '98
Is your cruise control acting strangely? My '98 Civic was too. It would overshoot the desired speed, then come down slowly. When released (hitting clutch or brake) it would take about 2 seconds to begin deceleration. Speed was not as constant as I thought it should be.
I guessed there was an air restriction in the vacuum release path. I UNPLUGGED THE LARGE HOSE ON THE ACTUATOR. The cruise works great now. That hose goes through the fender to who knows where. The must be a clog. Soon I will find out what should be there and correct it. For now I'm happy with a functioning CC.

My cruise control does this too. My actuator is slightly different though... what hose are you talking about? Can you post pics? The only hoses in that area that I know of are the power steering lines and the windshield washer fluid line.

your cruise
I have searched for this a lot. Never saw this cause/solution.

Hmm. I just took a look and mine has no such hoses. Mine has a cable to the gas pedal and then an electrical connector. Granted, our actuators are a little bit different looking (mine being a 5th gen Civic actuator, yours being the 6th gen Civic type), I just don't see why there would be any hoses on it, from an engineering standpoint. It doesn't make sense to me.
I assume you meant 6mm in diameter, not 6 inches? Although it's not important.
Can someone with a 6th gen Civic verify the information about these hoses?

I can only assume that the vacuum assist increases the life, efficiency, and reliability of the actuator motor.
