btw about the people thinking that tint laws are stupid. They are there because when a cop is comming up to a car he pulled over he needs to be able to see into that car. Imagine for a second that you are a cop walking up to a car you cannont see into, not knowing if they are reaching for a gun or something. It is just there so they can be a little safer. I think the front windshield part of the tint laws is because it makes it harder for you to see out of your car plus at night oncomming cars get their headlights glared back at them by the tint. (tint reflects light)
exactly, if a cop cant see into the car he has no idea what the person inside is doing and is putting his life at risk because of it.

@ thread starter, yeah sorry i have absoultely no sympathy for you, if you are speeding it is your own fault, not wearing a seatbelt is just stupid and you deserve to be ticketed for it every time, and you should have checked the laws for your state regarding tint and gone within the legal limit or not complain when you get ticketed for it.

I kind of think that the seatbelt should be optional for adults. If the gov is going to start to try and safe people from making stupid choices then they should stop ciggs also but it should be up to the person, who are we to tell them that they HAVE to wear someting if they don't want. Personally, I wear mine all the time, not because it's illegal not to, but because whatever discomfort it causes (acualy I don't even feel it anymore, and kind of feel weird when I don't have it on.) but to people who do think it is uncomfortable, IT HURTS A LOT LESS THAT BEING THROWN OUT THE WINDOW AND ACROSS THE STREET

Well in a sense seatbelt laws makes it more economical, think about it seatbelts save so many lives it not even funny, now consider if there was no such thing there would be so many wrecks out there where someone could have had the injury or death substantially decreased. Now as soon as a vehicle wreck has a death you can almost figure the particuler cost of that accident almost quadruples. When someone does not wear there seatbelt and is killed you know who foots that bill for cleanup? thats right taxpayers, now I would personally rather have the idiot next to me that is to cool for a seatbelt pay the fine so when he is in a wreck that the money the state gets from those fines can clean it up. If you have not got what I am trying to say the seatbelt fines help keep our taxes down.

For a couple of years I drove around my parent's 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix. Since it looks like a ghetto cruiser, I was stopped three times for minor infractions. As the car is registered to my 90 year old mother and I am 64 myself, I never recieved a ticket, but I came to realize that if you drive a car that looks like a drug dealer's you had better plan on being pulled over from time to time.I imagine tinted windows falls into that category. I have never been stopped in my stock '06 LX sedan.

^^there is no such thing as a quota cops have to meet, sure if it looks like they are slacking off in thecitation areathey get hammered for it. But there is no magic number that they must reach.
Although there's no legal quotas in some areas the departments do have "performance goals" or "performance standards" and it reflects poorly on them when they don't meet those guidelines. These guidelines consist of all sorts of things. I've heard of states where departments that require officers to bring in a certain percent of the monthly average or you're required to check out a radar gun X times a month or certain days are dedicated to traffic only duty. If they don't do these things are fail to meet standards and "goals" set by the department officers are often times penalized for it.This can result in all sorts of penalities like being taken out of the squad car and put on foot patrol, late night shifts, and poor yearly performance reviews. Granted, some communities don't have anything like this but many do. For whatever reason I'm in the habit of refering to these "goals" or required duties under the vague and generalized heading of "quotas". Sorry if I confused anyone.

just fyi, the whole tint issue is an officer saftey issue. I know it seems a little much, but the officer coming up to your door has no clue if you've got a gun pointed at him if the tint is illegal. Listen guys, I know it seems far fetched, but that is the big deal. And NOTHING is more important than officer saftey, the number 1 goal is to go home to your family every night. P.S. it's a fix it ticket in most states too, here in AL seat belt tickets are only 10 bucks the first time and they go up from there.

And Mob- the reason your car wasn't printed was because there is no law against touching the outside of someone's vehicle, so if they pulled prints of the actual perp it wouldn't do any good if it was on the outside of the car, unless he said he was nowhere around your car, however most lawyers know the law and would have him say something to the effect that he may have brushed up against it.. Secondly, to print the inside of the car, they would have to pretty much ruin it, most surfaces in a car would have to be superglued to pull prints. Sure they might get lucky and pull one off of the dash via spreading dust, but most likely they'd super glue it. Not good for your car.

Hi I didn't take the time to read the whole thing but here's the thoughts on the tint. If I'm a cop and I pull you over, you have dark tint, are you pointing a shotgun at me through the glass that I can't see because of the tint? Music is skeptical thing usually it's just a turn it down thing. Speeding yeah he got your butt. It happens. I got an $800 ticket over here in Japan. 153 kph in a 80kph zone. The guy you got may have been a rookie out to make a bad *** impression for himself. You never know. Oh and BTW I'm a cop.[sm=bananallama.gif]

OK so others mentioned the same thing I did. That superglue would be hella funny though.dust is just as bad. You do everything and it just goes everywhere. Looks like you just climbed up a chimney if you do it right.
