You can kinda see what the paint looked like before. It had almost a copper brown flake in it.

Black is such a hard color to buff out. The finishing compound I was using was crap! Some 3M junk that kept clogging up my pad and leaving a haze on the paint. So i'm going to get a new pad and some Mothers finishing compound and finish it today or tomorrow.
Wet sanding and buffing.

Here you can see the nice blue flake. In the sun it almost looks like an INSANELY dark blue. Its awesome.

I'll get more pics when I'm able to finish it and get all the parts put back on it.

i wouldnt mind black but its such a PITA to keep clean and shiny!
a good clay bar will remove alot of haze.
hopefully ill be painting my civic in about a month depending on the weather.

Yea it's a pain, but when it is clean it's the best looking color out there. Yea I used a clay bar on the part I took a picture of. Are you gonna leave your civic silver or do a color change?

well i was going to paint it gunmetal BUT lately ive just been thinking of painting it stock silver... but seeing how i change my mind alot i still might do gunmetal. just not black again since i had to dust it every 1/2hour.LOL i used that large cali duster ALOT....i can say they are worth the money after the new wax spots rubbing off on the paint!!!!!
i guess it will be finalized when i actually buy the paint!

only 2 things holding me back from painting my civic.
and they both go together... first off obviously the cold weather (i do have heat out in the shop but its not good to crack the garage door to let the fumes get sucked thru the shop) and second of all no water in the shop due to a busted water pipe, also effected by the cold since im not going to fix it till it stops freezing otherwise it could just blow the line again. and even having the heat on in the shop will not prevent the pipes from freezing since they are in the corner of the shop.... thats why it blew and flooded the office/bathroom afew months ago.

Dang that sucks. You could come paint it in my garage if you wanted. I'm not too far. haha I have a paint fan in the wall to suck out the fumes, killer heat and everything. It was 96 F in my garage when I was painting and it got to 112 while it was baking measured with an infared thermometer. It's a super nice setup for painting. This will be the 3rd all over paint job I've done in here.

ya i wish id be able to bake the paint but with the size of our shop that would be insain heating bill.LOL
and our paint both is full of crap so i have to remove everything before i can even get it in the booth
its a great paint booth and fan and such. i wish i could seal off the vents of the heat and shoot the heat right into the booth but the guys that installed the heat and ac said we shouldnt seal off any of the vents. and for painting id still need the shop to be really warm to prevent runs in the paint.....
ill get it painted within the next month or two. its getting warmer out so thats a plus.... i plan on buying a really long garden hose to get water out to the shop to at least start the body work or if its warm enough outside ill do it outside in the driveway. i have the filler and high fill primer already. i just need to buy a bunch of sandpaper and start working... also need some striper to remove the primer off my front bumper cover since some of it came off because i didnt use that plastic bumper spray before i primered it.. i was just in a hurry to get the car slapped together to drive and not look to bad.LOL

i dont have much body work to do. only minor hail damage on the roof and trunk lid and a few typical dings here and there. shouldnt take to long to get all my body work smooth at least.

I think they started using it in 2000 on the GSR integras. But yeah it's the same color as the new civics. I'll try and get a better pic of the blue pearl in it. It looks so good!
