Do I need a lift?
Hey we are going to install an exhaust on my friends mustang today, and I was just wondering if we could use a jack with saftey stands to hold it up.. or would that not be too safe. Or would I need a lift?
You should have enough space to do the back section of the exhaust by just jacking the back of the car up and keeping the front wheels on the ground. If you are also replacing the headers and front section of the exhaust then just jack up the front of the car with the back tires on the ground. This will be safer than having the whole car in the air on jack stands. Plus you will need 4 jack stands vs. 2 jack stands.
Just jack it up put to safe hold in front and jack jack the back up and you dont need safes for the back, I have spent hours under neith a car with just a jack holding it up, we rebuilt a b16 in my friends hatch, he left it on a jack itsself for like 6 months, you will be fine, but if you can get a lift use it I use one when I change my oil and do odd jobs,.
