Default does a 99 civic utilize a proximity chip?

99 civic: does the ignition key have a proximity chip in it? or can i just get a standard copy of the key made? thanks.

A replacement key for your '99 Civic at the Honda dealer is less then $2. Just give them your VIN# and they can make a key. My Prelude SH has an immobilizer chip in it so that key costs $26.
