ok so i bought my 2000 civic about a month ago and it was my first honda so im still kinda knew to all of this. when i bought it the owner said that all of the 99-00 civic ex coupe came stock with the 1.6L engine with v-tec. but i noticed that my car doesnt havev-tec i think so now i dont even know if its an ex or what. do all 2000 civic ex's come with v-tec

 

If you go to Honda.com and go into the "Owner Resources" section, register, type in your VIN # and it will tell you everything about your car...

if you have a 2000 civic EX, then it's a VTEC engine. The engine (valve cover) will not say VTEC on it. If you look at the block, you should see an engine code of D16Y8, which is the 96-00 civic VTEC engine.

I have heard people say that the SOHC vtec doesnt kick in as much, but I am not sure if that is correct.
