You can't feel the vtec engage in the d16y8 but you can definately feel the increase in power.

Si are so better that an Ex model.. I own a 2000 Civic Si DOHC V-tec.. You can really feel it on my car when the V-tec kicks in.

im pretty sure it engages at 5500 rpms but with an sohc it isnt as recognizable as a dohc. an intake, especially a short ram makes it easier to hear

Which, for a d16y8, is true. But the increase in power would definately be "feeling" it.
