Hi,
What sort of RPM would you class as too much for an engine that manages an 8500rpm redline. The red begins at 8000rpm and peak power is at 7600rpm. Where would you recommend i shift for optimum performance while still being relatively kind to a car that must last a few years yet. It has done about 120000 miles. It still feels powerful and right on the mark. It willalso get an oil change every 3000 miles and i run STP additive with the engine oil. All the other components and fluids will also get changed when they are supposed to, it has recently been fully serviced with over a £1000 spent on it

suggestions ona goodrpm, i think 8000rpm?

feel ur car man, you can tell when you need to shift, basically if your racing shift anywhere from 8000-8500 depending on how it sounds and feels....

as for being kind to it...you cant race it and be kind to it at the same time lol, shift at 4k if u want to be kind
lol

are they still uber reliable with the odd VTEC usage at 8000-8500rpm?

lol "uber"....but yea its a honda, it will last long whether you drive it hard or soft as long as you maintain it. ofcoarse driving it easier will make it last longer, but thats why racers rebuild their engines and maintain them more than a normal driver.

dont worry about it though, just maintain it and drive it...
