It shouldn't fit. Most (if not all) 2000 and below Civics use double wish bone suspension and the 2001-05 use MacPherson struts

Don't use chassis codes. EM1 is a 99-00 Civic SI. I don't know why I am second guessing myself right now, but please confirm OP. Superfly probably read that as EM2 which is the 02-05 Civic SI. That suspension will not work.

If yes, then any 96-00 suspension will bolt on without problems.

92-00 Civics all front coilovers are interchangeable. The difference between 92-95 and 96-00 is 4 mm in length for the LCA to strut bolt. EGs have an 84mm bolt, while the EKs have an 80mm bolt.

EG suspension can be used on a EK by squeezing the strut collar around the LCA, or by using EG LCAs, or by adding 4mm of washers.

EK suspension can be used on EGs by using EK LCAs or widening the strut collar.

You actually have it the other way around. I've learned this first hand when putting my old Tokico suspension from my '95 race car to my '99 daily driver. I used the Tokico springs but I could not use the rear shocks and for that reason, I decided not to use the front shocks either.

As you said, the front suspensions will work and are interchangeable. BUT note, the spring perches from the '96-'00 are mounted slightly lower than on the '92-'95's. Meaning the ride heights would be different. My '99 sits lower than my '95 did with the same springs..

The rear shocks from '92-'95 Civics will not fit on the rear of the '96-'00. The mount forks for the LCA's are far too narrow to fit or make fit.

However the rear shocks from the '96-'00 Civics will fit on the '92-'95 Civics with the use of some spacers/washers.
