engine oil pressure source

RE: engine oil pressure source
I am assuming that you want to install an Oil pressure gauge?I wouldget a "sandwich adapter" from glowshift gauges. This adapter screws on where your oil filter goes and then you screw the oil filter onto it. It has 4 threaded holes for gauge senders and comes with plugs for the holes that you don't use.

RE: engine oil pressure source
i have that glowshift adapter installed on my 93 civic. its a very clean install and its plug and play. its just that it gets the reading before the filter so whenever you switch the ignition to "on" without the engine running yet, there will be a 20 psi (approx) reading on your gauge becuase of the pressure in the filter...i think.
even when i used to have my sender unit installed on the original sensor port (on top of the filter) using brass "t" fittings, it had a reading too, albeit lesser at around 10 psi. i understand that fron this port, most of the oil gets extracted after you shut down. whilst in the filter, there is always oil remaining in it.
