Engine reving too high??
See my sig for details of my car
Basically, when I'm driving at 60MPH on 5th gear, the engine revs at like 3000rpm... this doesn't look normal because one of my friend has the EXACT civic, but 4 speed automatic... when he is on 60MPH, his engine revs a little below 2500rpm
What is everyone else's ride reving at??

3k at 60 sounds normal for a manual. Auto civics have longer gears (since they only have 4 gears instead of a manual's 5), so they're at lower rpm's at the same speed.

RE: Engine reving too high??
Thats normal for a manual. Im usually at slighly above 3000 at 60mph. My friends automatic hyundai accent cruised at 2500 going like 65 but the speed limit was 75 and I tried to get it to 75 and it jumped to 5500rpm when I floored it.and just could not make it to 75. So basically if your friend tried to floor it to get some more speed his rpms would shoot to where it would be on a manual but as soon as he lets off the gas and cruises it will drop to around 2500.

Jesus... having my 05 civic (just bought a month ago) reving at 3K rpm kind of hurts... remember, this is a 2005 civic, not some oldies...
enigma34. what do you mean you are not using vtec when you are under 3K rpm???

You say "reving at 3K rpm kind of hurts"
why? How many other cars have you had that were manual trans?
And why would you ever feel like a manual vs. auto is aneven/reasonablecomparison?
They do have quite a few differences.

RE: Engine reving too high??
I owned a manual accord and test drove a chevy cobalt manual before. They only rev up to like 2.3 MAX for 60MPH...
Those two models do have wayyy larger engines though. It does make sense. I didnt mean to offend anyone with my "lack of knowlege". so, sorryyyyyyy

You wanna see revs? Ride a moto or drive a 3spd Jeep CJ with 4.56 gears or higher.
