Default Engine swap question

My 02 EX has a US engine, can you put a Canadian engine in to replace it? I found one cheap but I do not know if it is possible or if I would run into issues. I burnt a valve in the head and I found this engine $75 more than just a head so I figured with 180,000 I would just swap engines and change the clutch while it is apart. The car is in good condition so I don't see a reason to buy a new car when I can get another 100,000+ miles out of it for a fraction of a new car. Thanks

Check the engine codes. Your engine should be a D17a2. The Canadian one will need to also be a D17a2 to be a direct replacement. If it's a D17a1, you'll need the computer too. The a2 is vtec, the a1 is non-vtec.
