Default this ever happen to your civic?

On a late rainy night my civic started to act really weird, it stalled really bad, sounded like alot of backfire, u steped on the gas hard and that think wasent going ANYWHERE! the only way i was able to get home was by driving really slow and even then it still did it sometime. I have a cold air intake so i tought maybe water go in themotor, the next day i bought one of those things u put in your gas tank to clean your fuel system and cleans some other things and it never did it again. 6 to 7 months go by and the car never did that, Just recently i had my car in miami at the body shop and when i broght it back it started up AGAIN so i did the same thing but this time it didn't fix it, this is the 4th day i have it back and its still having this problem, u guys have any experience with this??

Sounds like its getting water through your CAI. That's how the benefits of a SRI can help out. Remove your filter and tubing and clean it all up, make sure itsdry, and if you want to keep this from happening again I would recommend you shortening your tubing or getting a shorter peice of tubing so that your not sucking water in and damaging anything.

Just my two cents, but I highly doubt that you are sucking water up your CAI. It would take a HELL of a lot of water to start messing with your engine. Seriously, like a few feet of water at least.

You problem is more likely an electrical one. Does it only happen when its wet outside? When was the last time you did a FULL tune-up?

id say pull off your distributor cap and inspect it.
if you ran thru water and your distributor is cracked water could have gotten in thier making it run realy crapy. and over time the cap can get coroded so its not leting the plugs get a good spark,

pull the 3 screws and if the points inside the cap arenot shiny and clean i would replace the cap and the rotor button as well!

Ya check your distributor cap, what you can also do without taking it apart is get some water and mist it on the cap when your car is running, if there is a problem with the cap your car will start running bad or there will be some small sparks.
Mechanics told me to do this...

Inspect dizzy cap (probably just needs the seal replaced), grounds, wires for any visible wear, etc..
