Default External or OEM coil

Hello I'm new to this forum and just wanted to get some advice on which would be better. I have a 94 civic and just changed the wires, distr, rotor, and plugs. Afterwards it ran like a scalded dog!.....nice. But then I went to crank it up one morning and it ran for a few minutes and shut off. I went through a few trouble shooting procedures and came to the conclusion it was the ignition module or the coil. Make a long story short found a great deal on the module, but also wanted to replace the coil. Thought about going with a external one like the MSD blaster. Would like to know if I'll see a big difference or should I just go back with the OEM. Thanks

you will not see any difference with the msd really at all, but they are easy to install, i have one because i needed a new coil and i figured might as well upgrade while its apart

Yeah I had a guy at the auto parts store tell me the same thing. I was thinking along the same lines as you, since I was going to get a new one, why not upgrade. But if I'm not really going to notice a difference then why spend the extra cheese on one. By the way do you know what are they good for, if the basic fuction is like the OEM?
