And it's also my first car.

A '95 Honda Civic with slightly over 160-thousand miles on it, as well as a ripped out deck and missing speakers.
It's also got some dings and scrapes, but it was pretty damned cheap.

I'm likely not looking to race it, but I would like to know if there are any general appearance or interior modifications I should make to enjoy the ride more (aside from, obviously, replacing the speakers and deck).

I too have a 95 but I went the total opposite I wanted speed and not looks but you could always start with a exhaust and CAI.

You're going to have to break everything down for me like I'm a four-year-old.

I have no idea what a CAI is, and any other abbreviations will probably be lost on me, too.

Sorry well most people start a "new" car off by getting a Cold Air Intake and Exhaust. Just to add a little kick and make it sound better.

Are these parts at places like Kragen or Auto-zone?

Thanks, man!

Anything else that I might want to do for appearance, or maybe a slight bit to performance?

Kragen = AEM parts.....yucko
avoid any tail lights with Alteza anywhere on the package.
Go to EBay and type in 92-95 Honda Civic.....you'd be surprised what comes up.

Cold Air Intake yes
Exhaust header and cat back exhaust system Yes
Rims Nothing over 17" yes
Have fun and take pictures.

You could go crazy and change out the interior seats with similar year hondas (preludes, integras, newer civic) just what ever floats your boat
