free way construction bumps!
hey guys the freeway that i commute has these little bumps in the road, kind of like a really small and low speed bump, but high enough to screw my car!! I thinktheyare repaving it or something...my car is lowered on s techs springs and i still have a 2 finger gap all around. If i was driving slowly these bumps wouldnt be an issue, but at speeds at 40 to 60, depending if there are people in back of me, it makes a terrible noise as i go over it. What is it hitting under my car to make this noise?? i checked today andametal clipthing near the front bumper is pretty raw and chipped. I have a lip kit, but im not sure if its affected by the bumps or not, should i worry? I also have 17 inch rims too..and low profile tires... dont want them to get bent or anything. If i dont take the freeway my commute is 50 minutes compared to 15...
if my lip kit can clear these bumps should i be okay? i think my car hits, flies a little then lands on the metal clip used to pull other cars. That clip is now half rubbed of!!! damn cal trans!!!
oooh man i feel your pain. i used to live in so cal ... its nuts out there. if i were you ... id just leave earlier and do the 50 min commute..youre drivin a civic so the gas wont be bad .. and plus why hurt the car if ya dont have to?
hearing the noise of the road hitting the bottom of my car really breaks my heart. Seriously tears streamed down the corners of my eyes as I thought my car was done for and my front lip cracked... The freeway itself is all bumpy and painful, but these new bumps are deadly. I called Cal Trans, I called Sacramento, I called the city of Garden Grove, and they all turned me away...
If I were you, I'd put on my harzards and "pretend" my car broke down and hit it at about 20, then just go about my way.... maybe a few angry people but f'em. better that your car is good.
dont think anything else is damage.. the plastic that protectives my engine bay is hanging real low. The sides where the jack is supposed to go look pretty worn. I'm just afraid of it banging into actual engine components or bending my rims...
looks like a longer commute for me

About all you can do is raise it back up a little. It just isn't practical for a daily driver car to ride that low. They'll never pave the roads glass-smooth to accomodate you.
