Dude look at all the pictures - he does not have a hood on because he has some kind of weird tubing and I believe the exhaust is not attached.

 

they're vacuum lines for the turbo setup...

 

yeah, which can easily be trimmed and then refitted. its not that big a deal he just has a messy engine bay.

I guess this was funny to me, I looked at about 5 civics like this- the story was always the same - the seller would throw in the turbo or the rusted "kiiler JDM motor" sitting in his garage. I pulled 4 carfaxes on Civics that has been totaled, odometer rollovers/tampering , had 11 owners in 9 years but the seller said they were all "cousins" of his and had one guy want to get in a fight for merely asking for the VIN. The best was a totally clapped out CRX with a subwoofer bolted in ( barely) that was acting as the primary structural member of a very rusted car.
