Default good or bad

So I decided to buy a ram air type fiter. While waiting for it to get here, I removed the plastic intake pipe and the box in the front. Now when I come on to it. It sounds like a roar. Am I doing any damage by not having that plastic pipe or am I ok till the real deal gets here?

If you're talking about the intake tube and filter, then possibly. Without the filter, dirt, dust, debris, etc. can be sucked into the engine potentially causing damage.

As far as the roar you're hearing, it's most likely due to the fact that you took the silencer box off, also. Exactly what year civic is it, also?

if you removed this

and currently don't have anything there, yes its bad to not have an air filter box.

2000 d16y7. I left the filter and the box over it on. I just took the silencer box and the plastic pipe upto the airbox off. The filter is still there, with the box over top. I really like the sound and have been a little heavy on the foot just to hear it. I'm just wondering if theres anyreason not to run it as is till I get the whole pipe and filter thing to make it a real ram air intake.

hmm, well if the filter box is still there, but the silencer box and the piping to it is just removed i don't really see any real problems that might occur. i could be wrong though, but the filter box is still doing its job.

i would kind of see it as a SRI now rather then with the silencer box/piping
