Default Guide buying 8th or 9th gen

Hi. I need to change the car soon and I was thinking if I could get any help with a Civic, as I haven't got much knowledge about the cars(I had a golf 1.4 03 reg) The car is a 1.8 l 71k miles and the price is 4.400, 2010 reg.Now I've looked over the Honda forum to see if I can find any detailed info about the reliability and pleasure to drive and if it's worth buying over a Golf, Focus etc.but couldn't find what I was looking for. Also which year is best to choose from 2006-2011 and which trim. Could you please make me aware of what I will have to look at when going to the dealership to see the car, like noises wear etc. Also I was wondering if the price is alright for a car it's age, or should I add 1k £ more and get the newer version 2013?Thank you

Default Get rid of that golf

In my experience ANY civic is going to be more pleasurable to drive than a golf, the more pure of a drive you want will dictate how far back you want to go in the civic linage. With IMO the 92-95 being the best of the best. Not for occluded reasons but for very specific ones, the chassis is stiffer and lighter than the 96-2000, also it retains the double wishbone suspension that vanished from 2001-2011.
