Question Hand-over-hand Hand Placement?

This has been bugging me for a while. I've done it correctly a few times, but I can't get it right consistently.

If I'm making a right turn, where do I stop with my left hand?

That's not a picture of my car, by the way, but my steering wheel looks like that.

It depends on how sharp the turn is.

You don't have to leave your hands at 10 and 2 all the time. Especially when daily driving and making a turn just use one hand. I find that easier then trying to use 2...

Technically you should be closer to 9 & 3, really not sure where the 10 & 2 thing came from.

As for your question, lift and replace the hand when it feels "right." If you feel like you're reaching, then you're going too far.

In one (of my 12) of my trips to driving school to get a ticket dropped, they actually said 8 & 4. They claimed that's what the two bottom holes with cruise control and whatnot in them. The lady said this is less strain on your arms for long driving.

Personally, I only use one hand unless I'm driving fast through turns or something.

And then I grab the top of the wheel?

I think you're putting WAY too much thought into this man. Just do what feels right. There really is no established "right and wrong" answer, you just turn the wheel as it feels natural.

yea I drive the same way, at 12 with just my left hand. Just do what ever you feel to be the most comfortable and safe.....although I dont want to think what the airbag would do to my hand at that position...
