Default Hatch Project

Hi!

I posted a while back asking about what year hatch I should get for a project car. After reading everyone’s advice, I think I will try to get a 92 or 93. Yesterday, I went to look at a stock 92. It was OK, I guess. I’m new at this, so I’m not really sure what I should be asking or looking for. The 92 I saw yesterday was a CX with a clean title. It has no power steering, manual windows and manual tranny for $1800 (good?). The body has dents and dings and it looks like there is spray paint on parts of the car.

I did a search on here to see if there was some sort of buying guide or questions that should be asked when looking for a this type of car, but I didn’t find anything. So, any suggestions?? Thanks.

Why don't you find one with a power steering.. I got mine (a 91) for 740$. (CDN) It needed some adjustement, and a clutch. And it had power steering... lol.

whatever if it doesn't need any major work, I guess 1800$ is fine.

find out what those spray painted parts are. they might be trying to cover up some bad rust which could later turn into a big headache for u. if its got a clean title and the cars in good working order and decent shape, i suppose $1800 isnt too bad.

The one I test drove definately needed some more power. So, I'll most likely swap the engine. I'm not totally sure what I'm going to do besides that...I'm still researching! My goal is a fast, streetable hatch that looks good. Simple?

Does anyone know how much it would roughly cost to get that result with a car that doesn't have any mods? And by looking good, I was thinking about changing the seats and paint, too.

I saw an ad for a 93 with power steering, but no air conditioning. Which is easier add on? I know air conditioning takes away from the power, but I live in CA.
