Pull the CEL codes, that will be a big help and when the CEL came on your VTEC is shut down until the CEL is removed..... so could the no vtec be your "lag"?

D16Y8's are known to have oil problems. It is possible you damaged the lower end if you were missing 2 quarts of oil. I experienced a similar issue with my y8. I was cruising down the highway and lost all power, turns out I spun two rod bearings and bent a rod. Prior to my mishap I thought I had a bad valve tick, but I actually had a rod knock.

Definitely pull the codes and go from there.

spun rod bearing = good time to swap in a b series. sorry bro, u may be effed. why would it be 2qts low man? any idea? did u change the oil last or did u get it changed? and why would u rev ur car to 7k? its not making any more power @ 7 than it would @ like 6250...

ive never heard of transmission drum. is the engine clicking, or knocking? does it sound like its about to come apart?
