ok i have been driving for like 3 hours straight. driving fine not drving it toooo hard. but normal. and on my way home i decide to mess the the peole i am fallowing in there little scion xb, and i put it into 3d. going about 60 and i pass them and right as soon as i am shifting into forth.. soo right at 7000 rmp. right where mine red lines. all my rmps drop and i put it into forth gear and the check engine light comes on... now i am startig to worrie. cuz i get off the free way and my car is having trouble picking up as fast as usual. not that it is fast just that it was super laggy. and in first gear it was fine till 2500 prms and i would here it working super hard like not granding but like i could here everything spinning. same thing goes for 2nd gear and third gear 4th and fith gear nothing. intell i get to about 3500 rpms and when that happens my oil light comes on. so i went to the gas station and put in two quarts of oil. cuz there wasnt any in there. and it was black. i changed my oil 3 months ago. and i will change it tomorrow. but i still here that noise. what is it???????????
what should i do? how can i check my self? i have no monay at all!!!! can i pull off my valf cover and look for somthing irregular??
i have the d16y8 engine...
could it be my vtec? do those go bad? would it cause the noise?

D16Y8's are known to have oil problems. It is possible you damaged the lower end if you were missing 2 quarts of oil. I experienced a similar issue with my y8. I was cruising down the highway and lost all power, turns out I spun two rod bearings and bent a rod. Prior to my mishap I thought I had a bad valve tick, but I actually had a rod knock.
Definitely pull the codes and go from there.

spun rod bearing = good time to swap in a b series. sorry bro, u may be effed. why would it be 2qts low man? any idea? did u change the oil last or did u get it changed? and why would u rev ur car to 7k? its not making any more power @ 7 than it would @ like 6250...
