Default Help with choosing Engine/Trani combo

Sup everyone, i currently have a 99 civic 2 door d16y8 or ej8, at the moment i have it stock with minor mods (exhaust, intake, struts, etc) nothing big and Im still rocking the automatic trani

Im saving up some money and currently i have a grand saved up and i want to buy a engine and trani combo. My cousin had told me of some website that u can buy n they will ship it to you.

-The budget that im looking at is around 1500 to 2000 at most (college student)
-want an engine/trani mainly for street (everyday driver) and auto crossing
-Plan on going turbo later on (next summer)
-want enough power but not something that will kill me either lol

So thats what im gota work with, what do you guys think? any help or even advice on what i should be reading up on,or doing research on?

Thanks for any help in advance

If you want to stay under 2k, it really limits your options. But since you plan on going turbo eventually, Id recommend an LS swap. B18b1 is a low compression motor that is good for boost. Any hydro tranny is going to be fine, GSR trannys are a little shorter geared and some like that. I actually prefer a little longer gear like the LS tranny, also good for boost.

I will say if you plan on doing a turbo, get rid of the automatic

so you guys recommend les vtech with a gsr 5 speed trani right?

because i want a very clean swap, no check engine lights ,if i didnt have the 2g budget, and say 3 or 4grand to spend, what would you recommend, my cousin told me suttin about a h22 setup, and where should i start looking for a b18 w the trani, and what the average pricing on those, dont wana get ripd off either lol

but since i am going to stick turbo free for a wail, would the ls still be fast without boost, or is that still a slow engine ?

thanks for the comments btw

theres always engines on craigslist for sale so make sure to look there especially since your in new york..

Stock b18 will definitely feel hell of a lot faster than your d16y8
