Default Honda Civic Hatchback Help

I've been looking to buy a hatchback, but I'm confused with the EK3/EG6 and all that. To my knowledge, I'm assuming that they are body types? I'm not 100% sure. I tried to look into it on Wikipedia but it wasn't much help. Can someone school me on the difference between EK3 and EG6, and some other stuff about the hatchbacks. Thanks in advance.

Is the first picture a picture of the EK3 and the second picture a picture of the EG6?

Oh, cause since I thought the front was longer than the other, the model would be different. What are the other differences? And the EK9 is only in Japan right? Thanks alot!!
