i got a 87 hatchback 1.3L 4Cyl and i bought it at a towing lot and it didnt pass smog it had very high hydrocarbons over 2thousandd.

i took it in to check it out and they all say everything seems finee i tuned it up the oil is changedd.
they say it might be the catalytic converter and i think it is too but i cantt find it and they all say its illegal to sell it?

im lost and just need the partt so if anyone cant help me and point me into any directions or more info on thiss please hit me upp.

im guessing you are in CA? because thats the only state that has odd laws about cats

 

yeahh and its the only state they wontt sell themm too when im lookin onlinee wich makes no senseeee i need this part!

i have found a few that are 50-state legal but im not sure which one you need, theres one that has a streight pipe and one that has a curve.... im also assuming that you have DX, correct?

 

im pretty sure its the one with a curvee its in the fronnt and not in the middle of the car like most others i think, i dont know much about cars or hondas yet im still youngg and got alot to learnn.

The carburetor model has a very complicated fuel mixture control system. It may be a lot of work to get it to pass smog. Even after you find the problem, I'm sure most of the little valves and parts are unobtanium now.

High HC but low CO could just be misfiring or spark timing though. When the cat is bad it's usually high on all 3 pollutants.

 

yeahh im pretty suree cause it goes from the frontt.
