Horrible new car market in Los Angeles
I've been making the rounds with all of the dealers in the Los Angeles area for a new Honda Civic. I SPECIFICALLY want a base model with NO dealer-added stuff at all. Literally, each and every dealer insists on bundling over-priced stuff that I don't want. And it's not a negotiation tactic. When I insist that I don't want the added stuff, that ends the conversation or communication. This is the market condition! Hopefully, by the last week in December, somebody will be struggling to meet a quota or something. Otherwise, if I don't get a straight offer, I'll just wait until next December.
So, what caused all of this? Supply and demand disruption? Not enough cars manufactured to meet demand?
UPDATE: Finally I found a dealer who seems to be playing straight. We'll see what happens when I go in person to complete the deal. If there are any shenanigans then I look to buy a Toyota Corolla instead and save over $3,000.
