Default How is Civic Si build quality?

I'm interested in purchasing a 2008 Civic Si coupe. I currently own a 2004 Mazda6 hatchback that is pretty much fully loaded. My lease is up and I don't want to keep it because since the beginning I've had a lot of rattles, squeaks, noises from the subwoofer and other noises that have just gotten progressively worse and change with temperature. It's a hassle to take it to the dealer only to get a "cold not reproduce problem" response.

Anyway, I'm curious about the build quality of the Si. I love the way it drives and would like to get it, but will I have similar problems with rattles and what not? Honda is obviously known for its quality and reliability but I understand that this can vary on the model and year. I would prefer to avoid a car that will give me similar problems to those that I've had with my Mazda6.

Thanks for your input.

build quality is very nice, but its still an economy car, and you will hear rattles from time to time

Do you mind being a little more specific? How bad is it? On my mazda6, it got so bad that I have to turn the music up so I don't get irritated. Plus it is frustrating to have issues like this on a new car.

Thanks for the info. I know that different years have different build quality. can anyone who owns a 2006-2008 Civic Si comment on what sort of build quality it has? Please let me know if you have rattles, ticks or similar kind of behavior.

I don't have one, but as the car's get newer they put more padding and what not to fix little things like rattling and what not. I'm 100% sure that if you go out and buy a 2008 SI that you will not be "turning up your music so loud that you don't have to hear the rattling".

Honda's some good **** man. lol

ya my mother owns the 07excoupe version, not si, but that car is very quiet. cant hear the motor until under hard acceleration, road noise is heard a little bit,but thats the tires/ suspension. body rattles are non existant, squeaks are not there at all. the car is silky smooth and i recomend it. hell i own a 97 sedan, the only rattles you hear are the cat back and sound system destroying the trunk so for a 10 year old car that has no rattles when driving normal, to a brand new civic that seems very good honda knows its ****

I have a four door 2007 Civic Si that I bought used. It only had 8,000 miles on it. The build quality is superb. No rattles. No squeaks. The car is rock solid and stupid fast. If I have to find an issue, so far it is that the car is a little balky until it gets warmed up... but that doesn't take long.

I have a friend that ones a '07 EX Coupe, and out of all the times I've driven with him I haven't heard any rattles -- it's a very quiet car. I wouldn't worry about it.
