how long does a civic last?
I'm lookingto buy a usedhonda civic, manual transmission. how long do 7th generation civics usually last? is it totally not worth it to buy a car over 100k? here's the car i'm looking at: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/497177079.html
I don't know much about cars, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

It depends if the maintenance was kept up and it was not driven hard. I have own my 97 Civic since new and I have 285,000 miles. I only replaced the manual transmission because it was noisy. In fact, I only replaced it when my only clutch went out at 230,000 miles. Is was making some noise for about two years before that I had it replaced.
ORIGINAL: peige414
so basically if everything checks out (maintenance, carfax, exterior, etc.), it should be a good buy?

I've seen some guy with a Toyota Tacoma, and he had a little over a MILLION miles on it.. It was unbelievable! I was shocked. Usually, I think the average Civic runs up to 300~400k miles, or from what i've heard and seen.
In my humble opinion there isn't a better car made. Honda's are legendary for their reliability, longivity and quality. As a matter of FACT Honda has never made a bad product from lawn mowers to whatever!
