I was wondering if any of you guys that run forced induction on your engines could tell me how long (in miles) an engine is expected to last under those kinds of stresses?

There are too many factors in the answer to this question so to narrow down the question lets makes some basic assumptions:

1. The engine is a properly built B18C, LS/VTEC, or B16A platform that should support 8 psi FI
2. The engine is properly maintained
3. The engine is properly tuned
4. The car is raced occasionally, but its main purpose is to serve an aggressive daily driver

Hopefully that will narrow the question down enough to answer it. I'm interested to see what you guys say.

1)d16y8, stock internals
2)Oil change every 2,500 miles.
3)running 7psi for now on a gt28r with edelbrock's piggyback.
4)Hit's redline at least once a day

So far I'm been turbo for 5 months, about 5,000 miles without any problems, hopefully it will keep running like a charm for a least the next 2 years.

 

I would say that's too soon to determine the engine's reliability. Let me know if it's still running in two years

 

im running a supercharger at 10psi for 50,000 miles now. No problems yet. Its all in how well its tuned and how harshly you treat it, lol. Its common to see boosted cars see well over 100k miles as long as you treat them well.

 

if its built right shouldnt be any reason to get 30+mpg and 150,000 out of it if its just an aggressive DD and well taken care of

 

i have fully built b18 boostin 15psi for about 5500 miles an its runnin like its still new. I mean its just how u treat it an take care of it. If seen turbod cars go way over 150,000 miles. if u take care of her...shell take care of you
