Default K20

Well, just looking at the price of the K20 its $6600 for the engine and install. SO, the B18 would be about $4000 for engine and install, plus another $3,000-$3,500 for a turbo set up. The K20 has around 220hp (?) and 160ft/lbs torque (?). And turboing the B18 on stock internals would probably get me maybe 250hp (?) and 180ft/lbs torque (?). Considering the price and hp difference, I'm thinking the K20 might actually be a better option. Putting a K series into my car, will I be able to keep the A/C though? The car is a 97 LX. I'm in the desert and A/C is a must for me. Also, does this K option sound better than the B? And which K20 would I want and has more parts available? (The two on the bottom) http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=category&keyword=JDM%20U SDM%20Engines&hit=10
Is the K20A engine still legal in the US or would I have to get the K20A2?

I would def say go with the B18 just b/c i love B sereis. B/C i kno more than one person who has turbo'd a B18 and has over 350 hp on stock internalsi think that is preatty dam good. I also think that workin on B sereis is easier b/c the exhaust on the front and intake on the back, idk i jsut think it is more normal and just easier. I mean don't get me wrong i like the K series alot, if u had an EG on the other hand i would def say go K b/c they are soo much faster in EG's. So if u have 6500 that u are willing to spend u could get the B18 and Turbo it and a mild internal build and have like 400 hp so i would go with that if i had ur car and6500 to spend. Thats just my 2 cents soo hope it helps

I say K20 is better than a B series. And I also say you are getting ahead of yourself. Get a engine in there and then see if you want to boost.

If you can do the K20a for $6600 I would do it. But I still don't understand how, I looked into thisa lotand even the K20a on that site is no where near ready to go in. Correct me if I'm wrong but the web site says it $5600 for:

- Motor
- 6-speed LSD Tranny 4.7 Final Drive (Y2M3)
- ECU (PRC) - needs work
- Stock Motor Mounts *-wont work
- Alternator
- Starter
- Clutch -should be changed
- Flywheel
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
-Coil Pack
- Engine Harness -needs work
- Comes With All Sensors Needed

and on top of that you need:
motor mounts(old ones have to be cut out)/Axles/fuel regulator/fuel pump/new oxygen sensor forheader/header/shift cable/cluthlines and a few other things. And if you are not doing it yourself add in the time for the mechanic and tune you should be around the 10,000+range and is why you don't see them done a lot. It's hard to justify that theengine isworth more then your car sells for.

Ya, the K20A would need more stuff, but what about the K20A2, that should cost less right? Around 5 grand?
