Default KBB quote VS TrueCar

I've noticed a price difference of about $400 when comparing the value of my car on Kelly Blue Book versus TrueCar. Kelly Blue Book is higher. Who to believe?

I've never heard of TrueCar. KBB is widely known and used by dealerships

Mechanics tell me that Kelly Blue Book is the gold standard so I'm gonna go by that. KBB is also specific to your zip code. TrueCar is just an average of all of the US.

Truthfully neither one matters and if you look closely kbb has a disclaimer that their value is just a starting point for negotiating. True value is determined by how bad people want your car. If 20 people are fighting over the same car you can ask 1000 over blue book. Ive done it before. Right now 4 cylinder imports are hot right now due to reliability and economy. A good condition low mileage example is usually hard to find for cheap because everybody is holding on to them.

Places like KBB and NADA simply provide calculated pricing information from information they gather. Doesn't make their numbers gospel, just good guides to consider, if you don't have an idea of value otherwise.
