Is it me or not?

Is it me or not?
is it me or do other civic drivers believe their civics run and drive better everyday they drive them? smoother and everything.
i am sure it is me, but with 77,000 miles on it, i believe it runs better now then it did over 2 years ago when i bought it with 52,000 on it.
i cant imagine what it will be like after 120,000 on it.
2000 ex coupe 5-speed.

RE: Is it me or not?
I think my 06 EX model is limbering up now that it's got over 3k miles on it. Fuel consumption seems to be up a little bit too but many things can affect that so I'm not claiming that as an absolute, yet!
Personally, I think a lot of the "perception" of the car running better is just getting used to it. I came out of a car with 100 more hp and my Civic has. Brand new right off the lot, my Civic felt pretty anemic. These days, 3500 miles and 1.5 months later, it feels a lot better in "normal" driving. When I put my foot in it however, like trying to merge into freeway traffic, it still feels pretty slow. It just doesn't have the punch of the last couple of cars I've owned. They again, "they" didn't get 30+ mpg either. So far, I'm averaging in the mid 31's overall.
There are lots of hop-up stuff on the market to improve performance but left in stock form, the Civic isn't a performance car. Keep that in mind and you shouldn't be disappointed. I know I'm not!

RE: Is it me or not?
I agree, perception is a lot (is it just cuz I have one, I see more '06's on the road?). After 3k, my gas consumption got better, but now at 5k, it has leveled off. The car is broken in (now to see if nothing breaks).
As far as anemic accelleration, you have to work the auto trans a bit (or stay low on the manual). Get on the highway ramp on D3, it's much better that way (without having to push in the button on the shifter, this has to be by design). This is not a high performance car, but it does what I need it to do; and it will stay stock until it's out of warranty, by then I will have a deeper knowlege base to upgrade the performance. Aftermarket stuff for the '06 is only just starting to come out. By that time I will know for sure what to do.
Remember, those hp ratings are at high revs; if you want power, you've got to get the revs up over 5k, up to 6. It's a small motor, but small motors are what Honda has been about from the beginning.
