I really like the internet

My son was looking for a new car, so we went down and drove a 2012 Civic EX. He fell in love. The price on the car was $22,100.

We live in a Abilene Texas and there is no competition, the nearest Honda Dealer, is 90 miles away and they have no competition either. So the prices here are pretty high.

Just out of curiosity, I searched the net, and looked at dealerships in Dallas /Ft Worth and I found a dealer that was selling 2012 Civic EX with automatic trans for $17,399. Dallas is about a 3 hour trip, but if it meant saving money, I was going.

The dealer dropped the price $1000 and then an additional $500. As I was walking out the door he ask what would it take to get me to buy the car today, I pulled out my iPhone and showed him the dealer price in Dallas, and told him I was heading to Dallas and I was serious. I'll travel 3 hours to save $3000. Heck, I would drive 3 hours to save $1000.

He finally agreed to sell the car for $17399 plus the dealer installed options which came to $699 (tinted windows, trunk tray and a bunch of other stuff).

So, my son got his EX for $18098 plus tax title and license. He is happy, and this is one really nice car.

I really wanted an excuse to go to Dallas and do some Christmas shopping. Oh well.

 

Yea some of these dealers just want to screw you over. Good going. But wow $600 for tinted windows. In Yuma you can get all windows tinted with good quality tint for $119 in the summer promotion & $149 regular price. I had our Civic done a year ago.
But overall it sounds like you did good.
