Well first you should figure out what engine you already have.

No offense to your friend, but almost every time someone starts a thread and says "my friend told me I have ___" their friend is wrong.

On the front of the engine, to the left of the exhaust manifold, there is a flat metal spot with an engine code engraved in it. It should have 5 digits.

Ultimately its your car and you can do what you think looks good but if you want to avoid the 'rice' label heres some common donts....

No weird multicolor paint jobs or painted interiors
No giant rims
No erector set spoilers
No hood scoops, ugly body kits, etc.
No wierd head/taillights
Basically if you saw it on 'Fast and the Furious' its probably not a good idea.

If you have a Canadian Si model, you have a US EX model, which has the SOHC engine rather than the DOHC. A picture of the engine will make it very obvious which engine it is too.

When you are looking to make additions to your car, think about it almost like a tattoo (unless you are a person who gets retarded tattoos). Can you see yourself liking what you did in 5 years, 10 years? Sure you might not have the car then, but you might try to sell it, and the future owner basically has to inherit your tattoo (and hopefully they like it).

Two different sets of wheels make me wonder what the previous owner was thinking :S

Nothing wrong with having two sets of wheels... But welcome to the site, lets see some pics of your ride!
