No More Umph!

No More Umph!
Alright, I put a nice, deep sounding muffler on my 2000 ex. it was nice and all, but i still had stock headers. so i bought new headers and had them put on. there is a big difference with speed and accel, BUT, the nice, deep, sound that i got from the muffler is barely there anymore. i figured it would be louder since there was more air going through the exhaust with the new headers. any ideas why?

same thing happened to my exhaust when I put my megan 4-2-1 on. I think because there is less restriction and the exhaust flows better it doesn't stick around to resonate so to speak. lol my guess. But when I have a load on my car (like people) it gets louder I notice.

I think its because.. With the muffler, there was alot of 'output' so to speak at the end.. So all that back pressure was at the end made it sound nice and deep, and since you added a header, it opened it up more, so there isn't that much back pressure anymore, so thus not as deep as a 'tone' as you say. But, thats my guess.

well, maybe because you have 2 headers and your car was designed for 1... not sure.
Just kiddingdont mind me, im bored. And if you didnt catch the sarcasm... you only have 1 header.

Ha, so true though. I see "Headers" come up alot on this forum, and really it shouldn't.
