octane question

i currently am running 87 octane for fuel.... if i run 89 octane tomrow just for thwe winter and then degrade down back to 87 duting the spring will that give any harm to my engine?

I dont think it makes a difference... I ran supreme in my civic for a while last year because the price dropped for a while... when it went back to regular it didnt do anything... so I think you'll be safe

it wont matter in the winter...unless maybey it has a less chance to freeze over the low grade stuff....i heard that since your ECU is made to run the crappy kind, its better to run it, instead of the expensive stuff, unless you advance your timing or boost or whatever.

Yea, I mean I don't think it matters 2 much its only a difference between 2 octane, I want to do it cause it takes my car 6 to 7 cranks to start up cause of the cold.... So I figuire maybe the higher octane is better

Higher octane requires more pressure to detonate. That's why it's used on high compressionand forced induction setups.If anything, it would be harder to start with a higher octane fuel.

really, wow i guess then theirs no point of putting a higher octane fuel in my tank... i just dont understand ive gotten my fuel pump checked thats good, i replaced my fuel filter, spark plugs are fine, cleaned my fuel injectors, i dont understand y it takes so long to get my car started [:@]
