Slightly off topic here, but is 89 octane like your premium, because here in Australia premium is 98

93 tends to be the best grade i can get here in MD, sometimes 95 or 97 but those are rare

as for the starting up slowly, it's probably your starter thats dieing... i know mine is, which is one more thing to the list on my car that needs to be replaced.

As the others have said it will not do anything to your engine. I run 91 and get wicked mileage from it. Unless of course I loose my head and push like hell which is everyother day. Yet I still get the same mileage as I did with regular. I have not flashed my ECU yet or messed with my timing . I figure the extra 5 bucks is worth the extra 40 miles/60 kilometersper tank. I change my oil wieght to 5w30 full syn in the winter and up it to 10W30 full syn in the summer. Same mileage.

dude, this all bull ****. i used to put in 87 and only got 35 mpg when i didn't rev ithigh or go over 70 on the highway. and ever since my buddy told me to throw in 93, i like worship him. lol. sh*t i get like 45 to the gallon when i don't rev it high. and like 43 when im flooring it (which im always on the gas). and i can tell my car accelerates faster and runs smoother. if you want your car to last a little longer, this is something to invest in. its only a couple extra dollars. gas prices ain't event that bad. its only like 2.57 for 93.

Has anyone here ever used octane boost products; claiming an octane number of 108? If so, did you find a major difference from standard premium fuels.

I noticed kick *** fuel mileage with higher octane...

I'm guessing maybe it's a placebo effect.

lol.

Gas freezes at like -150*F btw. I wouldn't worry about your schit freezing.

I used to run premium in my BMW, I never really noticed a difference between that and regular really, maybe 1-2mpg. But the engine suggested premium, so I used to try and run it all the time.

And octane booster isn't going to do crap really, but harm the engine. Maybe if you were drag racing all day long you would have a need, but then you would probably run jet fuel, and thats like what, 125, 140?
