I used change mine when ever my maintenance light came on, but now I have to change it every 2,500- 3,000 miles. Only because my snail requires it.

I had a forestry related job a few years back, and one of the work trucks was a Toyota 4Runner with over 300,000km on it. When I inquired as to how often they had to change the oil, my boss replied "we just add oil when she needs it." To my knowledge its still running to this day. An extreme example, since I think they wanted it to die so they could get a new truck, but its amazing what a well built engine will put up with. Not that you should ever do this to your Honda unless you want it to die too. lol

I bought my car at 44000 miles, civic d16z6 1993, dint do an oil change till about 73000 or summat and there was no problems at all, fair enough it was black as hell like. Honda's love to be hammered, I drivehard most of the time in vtec. If it was a ford it would have blown up by now, for example my mate bought a Rover 214from a grandad and started drving it hard, within a month the head gasket said bye bye. Testament to the Honda gods.

Ok so you need to change it every 3,000 miles or every 3 months. Oil does alot for your engine. It lubricates and cleans all moving parts inside the engine. If you don't keep it up then it will be likely that you will have leaky seals and other minor problems along the road. Some of you are lucky and think you don't need to change your oil very often. what you could do is pull off your oil pan and see what kind of crap is sitting in the bottom of it for who waits to change their oil every once in a great while. Just giving you my 2 cents. This is what i learned as i am in Portage High School Auto Mechanics. My class was number 1 in the nation for Auto Mechanics by UTI. This year our school was number 1 in the State ahead of all the colleges. but anyways my instructor has atleast 23 years of experience as a ASE Certified Master Mechanic.
