I'm going to look at and drive 1 or two more cars today, and if neither seem as good as the one I posted I'm going to buy it today. I've never had any negotiating experience before, any advice? What's a good low offer to start, maybe 4500?

Also, I'll ask for the service records, and by 116k miles, the timing belt and water pump should have been replaced, right? Are there any other costly maintainance things that should have been done to the car by 116k miles that I should check records for?

I found out though that the dealership is a "no hassel pricing" dealership, meaning no negotiation. I still attempted and got $100 knocked off, I'll try again before (and if...) I buy it, but I don't think I'll get more than $100 more knocked off, making for a total of around $5400-$5500. Still worth it in you guys' opinions?

I asked if the timing belt had been replaced and he said he didn't know.

make sure you take that plus other maintenence costs into account before you purchase it if you can do all of the maintenence including the timing belt/water pump it wont be that expensive but if your paying a shop all of the maintenence of a newly purchased used car can be expensive

So taking into account...

That the final price is now $5400

It's likely the timing belt hasn't been replaced (running me maybe $400 reo replace, give or take a few hundred)

It's in excellent to good condition, drives fine. Mechanic looked it over and agreed, saying only problems were minor such as a few dings, slightly rusted flange, dirty air filter.

Still a good deal?
