I have an EK but I guess it's the same. When I painted mine I don't remember a gasket but if it was there the cover came off no problem.

you can usally reuse it because they dont come off with the cover most of the time, but some people seal them to the cover as well as the head so when you remover the head it could ruin it. most of the time you can reuse.

you can reuse it just fine BUT........ think ahead....... with some silicone put just a dab of it on those cam shaft lobe corners... those hard angles are the worst leak areas.... ive had leaks even with a new gasket thier... its a very slow leak but still a leak that makes the motor look very ugly
just a dab will do ya right in those 4 around cam shaft area...... just remember to wipe the valve cover/head part off so the seal has a clean seal for the silicone to stick to in those corners....
