Power differnce between 01 EX and LX?

Power differnce between 01 EX and LX?

I recently made a thread about me considering buying an 01 EX civic. I still have not made a purchase yet, but have pretty much decided that the civic is the car for me. There is one thing that catches my curiosity though.. While doing some research on MSN autos I found the EX makes 127hp while the LX makes 115hp. Why is this? Is it simply because the EX has VTEC?

i dont know? i was wondering the same thing/ cuz i have the ex. but i didnt want to ask many questions. cuz i was happier with that little extra horspe power.

ex is the one with the best overall performance/looks/etc.
lx is the luxurious edition, with more of nice interior/style/etc.

and yes, ex is faster due to it's vtec.

The Vtec is what makes these engines, so yup thats probably it. If one wanted to, it would be easy enough to make up the horsepower difference with bolt on upgrades.
