Question About the E-Brake of the Car
1) My father always makes us use the e-brake. Recently my father to the car to the shop and when he came back he noticed that e-brake doesn't make those 3-4 clicking noise when your putting the e-brake off. So my father took it back and the mechanic said that apparently he fixed for us free of charge, and that it shouldn't be making a clicking noise. Funny thing is that every car i have been on, there is couple of clicking noise when you turn of the e-brake (pulling it up).
Is there supposed to be clicking noise or the mechanic is wrong?
2) When you are driving, should the e-brake be deployed (in the horizontal position) or turned off (in the vertical slanted position)?
3) What about during when your car is parked?

RE: Question About the E-Brake of the Car
Pull the handle up to apply the brake after parking. Press the button on the end of the handle and lower it all the way down to drive.
If you don't press the button while you are pulling the handle up, you will hear a clicking noise. If you do press the button there will be no clicking noise as you pull the handle up. Either way is an acceptable way to do it.

RE: Question About the E-Brake of the Car
hear hear..
That clicking noise you hear is the little catch that holds the brake in place. He's right, if you are holding the button in when you apply it, it won't click.
If it doesn't click when you leave the button out, it might be warn, but if it stays up *on* then I guess you are ok.
Please don't drive with the brake on, thats a no no :-)
