Default Questions about my 96ex B18B

This is my first car and I absolutly love it. When i got it, the previous owner swapped the motor for a 92 b18b. Roughly how many horsepower am I running, and how can I improve it without going all out on a turbo? Also, roughly what am I looking at for cost of materials to paint my car without labor? Any advice will help, Thanks

Wikipedia.org.

Search. B18b's were not introduced until 94 I believe. You might have a B18a, which is about the same thing anyways.

You can do a LS/VTEC head swap, add cams, high compression pistons, and get a tune to start pushing towards the 200 hp mark if you do not want to go turbo. B18's are usually pretty good for turbo builds though. Read up on what other people are doing and what they have seen HP wise and go from there.

I would just go turbo. B18a's and b's are both decent engines to turbo. Ls/vtec isn't really worth it, if you ask me. If they aren't done correctly, it will not be reliable at all. A stock b18b with good compression *might* put out 140-150hp, if I remember correctly, and adding vtec will only add another 20hp, give or take. Plus, its somewhat costly...for the gains, anyways

turbo'd cars can be extremely reliable, you just need to keep up on the maintanence, like more frequent oil changes and such...
