I have the D15B7 and the 5spd in the 95 2DR I currently have. Would it be the exact same motor and tranny in the 94 model 4DR? I know its a 4cyl amd 5spd. Were there options or would it definitely be the same?

 

It should be the exact same engine. Honda produced the same engine for all their DX models from 1992 - 1995 - the trim doesn't matter. If it has a DX sticker on the back, and no one has messed with the motor it will be a D15B7

And sell the rims like people are saying You have a good deal on your hands. With the right tools the swap should take 1 - 2 days. Should bolt directly into the chassis.

 

ANY MOTOR FROM A 92-95 CIVIC WILL FIT RIGHT INTO YOUR CAR PERFECTLY WITH NO EXTRA MODS NEEDED. but also you can fit any D" series engine right in from 88-00
with minor work( putting all your stuff onto the new engine).

 

Depends on where he lives. I know in California you have use a motor from the same year as your car, or newer. You can probably get away with putting any OBD1 motor in it. But not OBD0

 

Also, a +1 on those rims. What are on that 4dr are the rims from a 99-00 Civic Si, which is the highest trim level. Very highly sought after by people who are Honda purists and like to have all nice factory accessories. I got mine for $250 with no tires because they had a couple of scuffs and slight curb damage. If those are in near perfect shape, you can probably get $300 for just the rims alone. If they are in good shape AND have good tires, you can easily make enough profit off of them to offset half the cost of that car. Then you can swap over the engine and the steelies off the 2dr and have a parts car for little stuff.

 

Are the manual trannies the same in 95 and 95? Was there more than one choice on the manual tranny?

 

they will fit the same but the different trim levels have different gear ratios
si/ex=short gears (acceleration)
dx/lx=medium gears
cx/vx= long @$$ gears (gas milage)

 

all 92,93,94,95 civics are the same generation. now you have different options with the gears on the trans. from the trim of the civic.the dx,lx,vx,ex,si.

dx,lx (d15b7)are your base models and have just a normal trans
ex,si (d16z6)are your sporty, upgraded models and have short gears in the trans
vx,cx (d15z1)is your economy gas saver model and has real long gears.
