sleeving is just a way of reinforcing a short block and it improves the cylinder wall strength, allowing for high compression or boost. for the money question, it's up to you on how to spend it, 1500 is a lot of money, so be careful. and if you wanted boost, 1500 is a good start, and you could possibly save up some more.

well, you only sleeve for high boost systems. in your case, it's not required at all. and sleeving is quite expensive. i think riceburner is having his done for about 1000. if you buy all the parts and piece the kit together, and install the turbo yourself. it will cut the cost in half. and before you start anything, research, research, research!

'Sleeved' also means: taking a close to FUBAR'd engine, sleeving the cylinder walls, and rebuilding it. The cylinder walls are bored out to get to the remaining 'good' material, if the walls are too thin then sleeves are installed to bring the cylinder diameters back to something a rebuild kit will cover (.030", .060", etc).

Be careful. It might be the cool thing to do if you're a tuner, but sleeving an engine in the 'real' world is most likely a last ditch effort to sell some junk fast.
