Default smog question.

Hi there im kinda new to honda tech and was thinking about buying a 1996 honda hatch and swapping out the engine.

But the only problem that i heard or came across was that if i swap engines it will not pass smog.(the stock engine to a b16 or b 18)

so is there a problem if i do buy a hatch and swap engines? or will i be fine.

thank you for your help and time.

The smog limits your car must meet are set by the year of the car, not the engine. Since limits get stricter every year, this generally means it is OK to swap in an engine that is a type newer than the car but not one that is older. You should use all the pollution controls that were part of the car that had the donor engine.
