Default so here's my plan

right now i currently own an FG (8th gen) and its under my dad's name and he figures becuase its a new car that i dont need to modify it at all. that means no exhaust, (i have a cai under the hood but that was a battle to get that on there) or anything maybe aesthetics but no performance. My friendsaid he would sellhis Ek to me for 3k. Its got about 101k miles on it which isn't too bad. So what im thinkin is that i'll sell the FG OR i can keep the FG under my dads name and get the EK to myself and that way i can do what i want with it. If any of you have the same restirctions as my dad has im pretty sure you feel the same as me, its bullsh*t.

anyway when it comes to EK's i know there's alot you can do with them. I dont know much about them other than they have the d-series motor. i have a good amount of money saved up...what are some of my possibilites as far as modifications go. any help would be greatly appreciated

derekautomatica.

Your dad bought you a 8th gen and your bitching about it? It's not really bull**** that you aren't allowed to modifiy it since he bought it. If you want to modify it buy one yourself.

I guess if you really want to modify a car then get the EK but I would just stick with the FG.

ask your dad why he's against a SRI/CAI when all it does is allow the engine to breathe better. A little increase in fuel mileage, better sound, better looks, little increase in power. And it's probably the cheapest performance mod you can do.

well did your dad buy it for you or you are paying and its just under his name? first off i think he is right, with a lot of things if you mod it the warranty will be VOIDED, not good, if something goes wrong anywhere they could refuse to work on it even just because you voided the warranty by messing with it. dont get me wrong i would do some small things like cai like you did but nothing that could possibly void anything if you want to tinker i would get an older civic just like your thinking, my advice go ahead with another, you can never have to many civics

i pay the insurance its just under his name, so if i want anything to do with it i have to getit under my name. best bet is to just get the EK for3 grand and call it a day. then i'll just investall my extra money into the EK

Mods reduce the resale value. Most people who drive Civics would prefer to buy one in stock condition, even if they plan to modify it later.
